Remove any set-up or hidden layers before submitting your file. This prevents artwork from being accidentally printed.

Submit each job—including multi-page projects—as a single PDF file. All pages must be the same size and orientation for proper backing.

Review the File Orientation Guides in our images to ensure correct layout. Avoid placing borders too close to the trim edge. Slight cutting shifts can affect border appearance on Aqueous Coat products.

Include a 1/8" bleed and keep important text/artwork within the safety margins. Aqueous coated cards benefit from a larger margin to protect vital elements during trimming.

All PDFs must be high resolution, with images in CMYK color mode at 300 DPI. For text, use C0, M0, Y0, K100 black. For deeper, richer black on large areas, use C30, M20, Y20, K100. For small text, always stick to K100 for best registration.

Embed or outline all fonts to avoid printing errors. For best vividness, submit files in CMYK unless your card project specifically requires RGB or PMS.

Tips for Thin White Text on Rich Black Backgrounds:

Minor ink shifts can happen in printing, especially on writable AQ cards. Thin or small white text reversed from a rich black background is at risk for color shift. Use the rich black formula C30, M20, Y20, K100 for optimal result. Avoid overly heavy CMYK builds, as they are not recommended for writable cards and can cause shifting.

Widen white knockout text and follow our minimums: 0.75pt line weight, 8pt font size. Swell knockout areas slightly for clear, sharp type with Aqueous Coating.
