- Why laminate an ID card?
- Lamination protects print from abrasion and UV, extends card life from roughly one to three years out to five or more, and makes the card far harder to alter or counterfeit.
- What is the difference between patch and varnish lamination?
- A patch is a thicker clear film applied over most of the card face — the most durable and tamper-evident option. Varnish is a thinner overlay that costs less and still improves abrasion resistance.
- Does a laminator work with my printer?
- Lamination modules are printer-specific. Evolis lamination attaches to Primacy 2 as a Primacy 2 LAM configuration; check compatibility on each product or ask us before ordering.
- Can I add holographic security to a laminated card?
- Yes. Custom holographic patches with your logo or a generic security pattern are available and are a common requirement for government and healthcare badges.
