Evolis Primacy 2 ID Card Printers
The Evolis Primacy 2 is the workhorse ID card printer for offices, schools and security teams — single- or dual-sided badge printing at higher volume, with magnetic stripe, contactless and smart card encoding options chosen at purchase.
We are an authorized Evolis reseller in Boston: every Primacy 2 ships with the full manufacturer warranty, and we stock the matching R5F208A100 YMCKO ribbon, blank CR80 PVC cards and ACL cleaning kits so a new printer can start printing the day it arrives. Schools, hospitals and agencies can order on a purchase order through a B2B account.

Frequently asked questions
- Should I buy the Primacy 2 Simplex or Duplex?
- Choose Duplex if any card needs a printed back — barcodes, emergency contacts, return-if-found text or a magnetic stripe label. The printer flips the card automatically. Simplex costs less and suits badges where the front holds everything.
- Which ribbon does the Primacy 2 use?
- For full-color single-sided badges, the standard is the YMCKO ribbon R5F208A100 at 300 prints per roll. For color-front, black-back cards use YMCKO-K R6F203A100, and for text-only badges the black monochrome RCT223NAAA prints up to 2,000 cards.
- Can the Primacy 2 encode access cards?
- Yes, with an encoding module specified at purchase — magnetic stripe, contactless (MIFARE, DESFire) or contact smart card. Adding encoding at purchase is far cheaper than retrofitting later.
- Can I add lamination later?
- Lamination is a Primacy 2 LAM configuration. If you expect to need tamper-evident laminated badges, ask us before ordering so the right configuration ships.
- Can my school or agency pay by purchase order?
- Yes. Apply for a B2B account and we can invoice against a purchase order, including tax-exempt orders.
