Proof Policy: How Digital Proofs Work
Most print orders from Odd Jobs Media include a digital proof — a preview of your file as it will print — so you can check it before production. Here's how it works and what we need from you.
The 5 business day rule
After we send your proof, we wait 5 business days for your approval or change request. If we don't hear back in that time, your order is automatically released to production exactly as shown on the proof.
This keeps orders moving and protects turnaround times for every customer. Turnaround begins when your proof is approved or released, not when the order is placed.
Approving or requesting changes
- Open your proof and click Accept to approve it and start production right away.
- For changes, leave comments directly on the proof describing what to update. We'll send a revised proof, which starts a new 5 business day window.
- Check spelling, names, phone numbers, emails, dates, layout and quantities carefully.
Skip Digital Proof / Print Immediately
On basic print jobs — like Hard Copies, standard business cards, flyers, postcards, rack cards, door hangers and posters — you can tick Skip Digital Proof / Print Immediately before checkout if your file is final and print-ready.
We still perform a basic file review, but you won't receive a proof and production may begin as soon as your order is processed. By choosing this option you accept responsibility for spelling, content, layout and all other elements of the file you submit. It isn't offered on specialty products such as die-cut, foil, spot UV, embossed or plastic cards.
What a proof can and can't show
A digital proof accurately shows layout, content and positioning. It can't guarantee exact color: screens display light (RGB) while printing uses ink (CMYK). If an exact brand color matters, specify a Pantone color when you order.
Reorders
Unchanged reorders of previously approved files skip the proof step. If anything changes, we'll send a new proof.
Common questions
Will I get a proof before my order prints?
Most print orders receive a digital proof by email before printing. Orders where you chose Skip Digital Proof / Print Immediately, and unchanged reorders, go straight to production.
How long do I have to respond to a proof?
5 business days from when the proof is sent. If we don't receive an approval or change request in that time, your order is released to production as shown on the proof.
How do I approve or request changes?
Open your proof and click Accept to approve it, or leave comments directly on the proof describing the changes you need. Each round of changes gets a new proof and a new 5 business day response window.
What does Skip Digital Proof mean?
On basic print jobs you can tick Skip Digital Proof / Print Immediately before checkout. We do a basic file review, but no proof is sent and production can start right away. You accept responsibility for spelling, content and layout in your file.
Does a proof show exact color?
No. A screen proof accurately shows layout and content, but screens and printed ink display color differently, so exact color can't be guaranteed from a digital proof.
